I started a new job last year, where I am making a home. I am a senior lecturer at Ravensbourne University, teaching photography to some of the most brilliant young people I have enjoyed teaching. Since taking my post, I am more selective and exacting on what I shoot, which means it’s mostly look-books for designers I love, and the work for my PhD and teaching as my workload is very intense these days.
Before Christmas, I shot a wee campaign for Zoe Ward, a designer I had been in touch with for some time, and we finally got a chance to create together. This was a special experience for me as my work had inspired Zoe at her degree level, so we could explore the shared ideas that run through our work, feeding back feelings and ideas we both resonated with.
These are the images we made, the clothes are all by Zoe, and the shoes are by my dear friends at Atelier Inscrire, housed by Cloud Garnet who diligently bought the shoot together and all hair peices are skillfully crafted by Eleanor Whitworth; the shoots feature a model I hold dear, Mimi McVeigh, who is also a gifted artist and musician the makeup, which bowled me over was by Vivi Melo and assisting from one of my extremely talented students Tennille Janay.
I returned to my hand-colouring technique for the shoot; it feels different and new to me, having left it for so long.
