PhD Fundraiser

After six years of self-funded research, my PhD project is finally coming to life, and I’m fundraising for an ambitious shoot to conclude my study. This shoot will spotlight the unsung printers whose craftsmanship helped shape Deborah Turbeville’s iconic aesthetic. Each location and fashion look my team and I create in this shoot will reflect the distinctive style of one of her printers, celebrating the meticulous artistry of their darkroom work.

This research stems from countless hours of studies, experiments, and oral history interviews with Turbeville’s major printers, many of whom remain largely unknown. As a passionate analogue photographer and darkroom printer, I care deeply about this history and want to share it with you. This project is my labour of love, a tribute to the beauty of photographic printing and the hidden artisans who bring images to life.

To finalise this study and make this knowledge public, I need your support. I’m offering limited-edition prints of my classic works, as well as a one-off A2 poster. Every purchase will help fund essential costs like locations, models, hair and makeup, assistants, film, and darkroom materials.

By supporting this project, you’re helping preserve and celebrate the artistry and craftsmanship behind a visionary fashion photographer’s work. Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world.
